Schramsberg
Schramsberg – Napa Valley, California
Overview
Originally founded in 1862 by German immigrant Jacob Schram, Schramsberg is one of Napa’s oldest historic estates. The property was revitalised in 1965 by Jack and Jamie Davies, who shifted focus to high-quality traditional-method sparkling wines, helping define the category in the United States.
Today, the Davies family—led by Hugh Davies—continues to run the estate, sourcing fruit from cool-climate vineyards across Northern California. The Diamond Mountain estate contributes structure, while coastal sites bring freshness and acidity. Farming emphasises sustainability, and winemaking follows méthode traditionnelle, producing refined, age-worthy sparkling wines that have been served at official U.S. state events for decades.
